Forbes Speaks With Steven L. Jager in Update on Actor Charlie Sheen’s IRS OIC Tax Case
Things are looking up for Charlie Sheen after his $3.1 million offer in compromise (OIC) for liabilities in tax years 2015, 2017 and 2018, was sent back to IRS appeals, after having been previously rejected. Judge Maurice B. Foley of the United States Tax Court ordered the motion to remand on January 24, 2022. This order followed the filing of a Tax Court petition for reconsideration of the offer on November 5, 2021 by Partner Steven L. Jager, who is representing Sheen in the OIC agreement.
About the success of the petition, Jager commented to Forbes in a recent interview, “I really could not have asked for more than that as this Order means that I will get the chance to continue advocating for this Offer-In-Compromise, which I believe is wholeheartedly and absolutely in the best interest of both the IRS and my client; a true ‘win-win.”
The quick turnaround of the petition was noted in Forbes, as well as in a legal blog, which credited Jager, pointing out that he “had been around the block a couple of times.”
